Rainbow Trail
> Commissioned for the Marv Shufelt Learning Center at Cornell (Wisconsin) Elementary School
Located at 111 S. 4th Street, Cornell, Wisconsin
Rainbow Trail was commissioned by the Shufelt family in memory of Marvin Shufelt (1939–1997), principal of Cornell Elementary from 1971 to 1994. Reflecting some of his interests, the 27 images cast in bronze include an icicle, pine cone, feather, golf ball, shotgun shell, turtle shell, the footprint of a cat, a book, a cup of tea, and cookies. The sculpture's form, texture, color and arrangement suggest meanings and connections that transcend the literal. The viewer is invited to examine and contemplate the beauty and mystery contained in these ordinary objects, sand-cast and arranged into a wall relief measuring roughly 26 inches square and eight inches deep.
