Sightseers
> Commissioned for the William S. Cohen School in Bangor, Maine, through the Maine State Arts Commission's Percent for Art Program
Located at 304 Garland Street, Bangor, Maine
Sightseers is a set of two cast bronze wall relief sculptures designed for the library of the Cohen School. The two pieces continue the themes and imagery of another relief sculpture created for the school, titled Dawnland, with an emphasis on the individual's search and discovery. The work celebrates the act of perception.
The larger of the two "sightseers" depicts a face emerging from a puzzle, surrounded by a stone border that is littered with found objects. The sightseer is a self-portrait.
The smaller work depicts a small bird perched on a stick, grasped by a baby's hand, surrounded by white oak leaves.

22" x 18" x 2"
Sightseer Bird, 1993
