Crosscut and Oak Leaf Cluster
The configuration of images in these works is intended to reflect something of the character of a tree, as well as to compliment the geometric character of the Red Oak Grill dining area. The red oak tree — so named for the color of its wood — has rough, furrowed bark with distinctly flat topped ridges. The wood is heavy, hard and strong, with conspicuous medullary rays. The images of wood, bark, leaves, acorns, twigs, weathered wood and saw blades suggest space, time, transformation and history.
