Roil

> Purchased in 2011 by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh through the Wisconsin Arts Board's Percent for Art Program

Located at the Student Success Center, Elmwood Avenue, Oshkosh, Wisconsin

The images of Roil may disrupt initial expectations; some think the painting is upside down. Initial confusion is corrected by roiling water currents which define the surface plane of water. My initial inspiration is a love of the flatness and spatial ambiguity inherent in the reflective surfaces of water. The contrast of calm and agitation is a recurring theme in much of my work. It is a paradigm of paradox. It is about being in two places at the same time, connecting past and present, experience and memory.
